The office is located at 200 McCarty Ave., Albany, NY 12209. The office is immediately to the East of the intersection of McCarty Ave. and Southern Blvd., near the South Albany Thruway Exchange and immediately West on McCarty Ave from where it intersects with South Pearl Street. We have Special Agents Paul Scuzzarella and Tim Coll presenting. Agent Coll headed up the recent terrorist investigation and prosecution that garnered national attention and Agent Scuzzarella will speak about Cyber, Gang and Violent Crimes. If attending, please RSVP HERE. We look forward to seeing you there! Member Spotlight: J. Patrick Burns This quarter’s spotlight is on longtime ASIS International Albany Chapter member J. Patrick Burns. A former Chapter Chairman and Vice Chairman, Patrick makes his living in Retail Loss Prevention. Since 1991 he has been employed at Trans World Entertainment
dba F.Y.E. beginning as a Regional Loss Prevention Manager in Chicago for their Midwest region. After two years in Chicago, Patrick was promoted to Corporate Loss
Prevention Manager based at the company’s headquarters in Albany, NY. Patrick was again promoted in 2000 to Director, Loss Prevention overseeing the Loss Prevention
program for 800 stores nationally as well as three distribution centers and the corporate office.Patrick grew up in southeastern Connecticut and attended the University of New Haven where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration and minored in Paralegal Studies. During college Patrick worked for a private investigator, the Connecticut State Police as an Auxiliary State Trooper and as a Store Detective at Filene’s Department Stores. During his senior year of college he was promoted to Loss Prevention Manager at Filene’s. After a few years and different store assignments with Filene’s, Patrick left to join Lord & Taylor Department Stores at their downtown Boston location. While at Lord & Taylor he became the Regional Loss Prevention Manager overseeing the New England and subsequently the metro New York City region as well. Patrick is an original board member of the National Retail Mutual Association (NRMA) serving on its Retail Advisory Board since its inception in 2003. NRMA is a theft database, operating within the Fair Credit Reporting Act and used by many national retailers as part of their employment screening practice. Patrick is also a member of the Loss Prevention Committee for the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA). EMA is an international trade association dedicated to advancing the interests of the home entertainment industry of sale, rental and licensed reproduction of entertainment software such as DVDs and video games. As mentioned, Patrick was Chapter Chairman for four years and Vice Chairman for two years. In April of 2008 he obtained his Certified Protection Professional (CPP) status. Patrick now resides in the Capital District with his wife of 18 years, Anne, and their four children. When not busy working or participating in his many professional activities, Patrick enjoys spending time with his family. |
